Are you struggling with chronic pain, injury or fatigue? Searching for a way to reconnect your mind with your body and build awareness? Then the Pilates classes at LC Wellness & Spa by Lang Chiropractic are for you! Pilates is a series of mind-body exercises that build posture, balance and core strength. Here, at our Abington wellness center, we offer The Egoscue Method® and Pilates.
Bring Balance to Your Mind and Body with Abington Pilates
The Egoscue Method® is a system for eliminating chronic pain without relying on prescription painkillers, invasive surgery or expensive physical therapy. Developed by anatomical physiologist Pete Egoscue, this method combines a series of gentle exercises and stretches similar to yoga. The purpose of these exercises is to reconnect individuals to their innate muscle memory.
When we are injured or in pain, our body compensates for this pain by adjusting our movements. These changes may be very subtle, and can occur over many years. Slowly, but surely, our musculoskeletal system and entire body is no longer properly aligned, and it ceases to function as a cohesive unit. Misalignment leads to future injury and pain and can also affect the performance of our body’s cardiovascular system, digestive system and respiratory system.
We are all born with an innate knowledge of movement, balance and harmony. External forces can shift us from this balance. The Egoscue Method® helps us tap into our inner wisdom or kinesthetic sense, restoring alignment to our body. By rebuilding muscle memory, we can correct misalignments and dysfunctions. For example, if you have a forward tilted pelvis, your organs are unable to sit properly within your body. As gravity’s natural pull on these organs change, this may result in a variety of health issues, digestive problem and even fertility difficulties. The Egoscue Method® helps to correct this pelvis tilt and bring alignment back to the body.
During your first postural alignment session at our wellness center, our instructor will work one-on-one with you to assess postures and explain exercises. The first session lasts between 90 minutes and two hours, and it also includes a discussion of your medical history, causes of pain, injuries and wellness goals. Following this first meeting, future sessions will last between 60 and 90 minutes. With every session, our goal is to put you at ease and help you discover new things about your body. You are your body’s authority, and our instructor is here to listen and help build your own path back to wellness.
The Egoscue Method® teaches us balance and control of our body, a valuable lesson that spills over to many areas of our life. Our bodies are built with purpose, and each system naturally complements another; there are no unimportant parts. This same philosophy can provide guidance in your daily activities as you learn to live each day with purpose, finding balance and control of your life. We believe that health care must start with personal responsibility. The only clients who do not succeed are those who will not take responsibility for their bodies. Our instructor and chiropractor is here to help you learn the skills to take control and responsibility for your health and wellness.
Our therapist is excited to share the benefits of The Egoscue Method® with the Abington, Glenside, Meadowbrook, Roslyn and greater Eastern Montgomery County community. Take the first step in your wellness journey and schedule an appointment at our wellness center today!
